Traditional annual meeting of Review’s Editorial Board

In the beginning of the year, a traditional meeting of the representative Editorial Board of the “Czech Defence Industry and Security Review” and “Review pro obranný a bezpečnostní průmysl” magazines was held in the conference room of the Army House in Dejvice to take stock of the previous year and to discuss the future concept and details of the development of both periodicals in the years to come.Following the Editorial Board meeting, a ceremonial event, attended by numerous invited guests from all spheres of the Czech defence and security community, during which outstanding personalities, managers, companies, or projects of the Czech defence and security industry received awards.

The first to enter the discussion at the annual meeting of the Editorial Board of the Review magazines was Dipl.Ing. Miloslav Stašek, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, who was talking mainly about the future of Economic Diplomacy Projects and, in this regard, also on strengthening the cooperation between the Ministry and the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic and promotion of exports of the production of Czech defence industry. He appreciated the role of the Review magazines, particularly at defence fairs, and promised a further increase of the distribution of the two periodicals to the Ministry´s offices and facilities abroad. Police President of the Police of the Czech Republic Major General Mgr., Bc. Tomáš Tuhýgave his opinion on the cooperation between the Police of the Czech Republic and the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic, in particular from the viewpoint of the Concept of the Development of the Police of the Czech Republic until 2020. He praised the work done on different projects and effective cooperation in upgrading the equipment and weapons used by the Czech Police. He also mentioned this year´s 25thanniversary of the membership and involvement of the Czech Republic in the Interpol organization and its promotion in the Review magazines. Major General Dipl. Ing. Drahoslav Ryba, Director General of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, statedthatcooperation with the Czech defence industry was one of the key areas of the development of technical and logistic support of the Fire Rescue Service and the acquisition of new sophisticated technologies. He voiced satisfaction over simultaneous use of identical products of the Czech defence industry by various security elements, such as TATRA trucks by the Fire Rescue Service and the Army of the Czech Republic. Mgr. Zdeněk Richtr, Director of the License Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, stated that the Czech defence industry was playing an ever-stronger role in Czech exports, and promised his systematic support to it, as well as to the Review magazines. PhDr. Tomáš Kopečný, Director of the Department of Industrial Cooperation of the Armament and Acquisitions Division of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, analyzedin detail the role of the Ministry of Defence and the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic in defining and implementing relevant economic cooperation projects (so-called PROPEDs), and also emphasized the significance of national and international events of the security community for continuing development of the Czech defence industry. The contribution of  Army General (ret.) Dipl.Ing. Pavel Štefka, MSc., advisor of the General Manager for the IDET and PYROS/ISET fairs, Veletrhy Brno, emphasized the educational role of the Review magazines, which help less experienced companies with their participation in fairs and exhibitions. He also presented a general plan for the IDET and PYROS/ISET fairs, which will take place next year.  Dipl. Ing. Tomáš Kuchta, Deputy Minister of Defence and Head of the Property Division of the Ministry of Defence, was highly appreciative of the cooperation between the former Division of Industrial Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence with the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic and the MS Line publishing house. He also examined in detail the ongoing restructuring of the Ministry´s organizational elements responsible for cooperation with the Czech defence industry.He expressed his conviction that the entities involved, both old and new, would be able to follow on and draw from the successes achieved in the course of the dialogue between the Ministry of Defence and the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic.Dipl. Ing. Bohuslav Chalupa´scontribution stressed the importance of the innovative potential of the defence industry. Associate Professor Dipl. Ing. Miloš Titz, CSc., Honorary Chairman of the Editorial Board of the Review magazines, introduced himself as “having due respect to IT technologies”, but emphasized the role of specific materials and quantum physics. He would welcome “liaison officers” who would act as connections between science and applied science in the defence industry with specific needs of the army.  Dipl. Ing. Miloš Soukup, founder of the MS Line Publishing House and Review magazines,thanked the current members of the Editorial Board who had helped him build and develop the Review magazines from the very start, including Messrs. Miloš Titz, Jaromír Novotný, Jaroslav Trávníček, Jaroslav Pecháček, and Jiří Řezáč. There is certainly no need to introduce these captains of the Czech defence industry in detail.
